is built using open source tools and provides various
capabilities and functionalities to aid the
teaching-learning process. The online portal is an attempt
bring 'open learning' built on the principles of sharing and
collaboration.
The Shiksha Portal is a unique platform which caters to
different needs of the students and teachers. For teachers,
the portal provides a platform to collaborate and engage in
meaningful activities on issues/ discussions concerning
e-learning, e-teaching, creative teaching-learning etc. The
portal also gives an opportunity to the teachers to work on
some of the latest web tools/ platforms. The major sections
in the portal are Create, Collaborate, Discuss, Share, Blog,
E-tools & Strategies, Podcast and Content Repository.
The teachers' section is an attempt to build a community of
like-minded people, willing to share and contribute and help
improve the education process, both for teachers and
students.
The
portal is using open source tools and delivers capabilities
to enable the teachers to interact with peers, share
personal views, work together on projects, view good online
lesson, etc. The portal is a restricted area only for the
teachers and experts. Joining the portal requires the
teachers to fill up a simple form online on the portal and
upon verification the account gets activated. The premise
behind creating the portal is to have a mature group of
experts work together and generate concrete output on
various educational issues and concerns.
TEACHER STUDENT
For
students, the Shiksha portal provides a platform with access
to free downloadable courses, tutorials along with web tools
to engage the students. The premise behind the students'
section is free availability of learning resources.
Keeping our commitment and adherence to Open Source
philosophy, CII-Shiskha has made available its entire
content available online for free download and use. No
registration on the portal is required for content download.
The content caters to topics from Physics, Chemistry,
Biology, Mathematics and Geography in English, Hindi and
Tamil medium of instruction. Any parent, student , teachers,
others can download and use the content.
The CII-Shiksha portal (www.eshikshaindia.in) is an attempt
to provide a useful platform for teachers and students - a
place/ platform where they can share and collaborate on
various issues using the latest web technologies. We invite
more teachers and students to join the portal and benefit
from it.
